Sick from the water in CA

Ever since I’ve been back from California I’ve been having these...well...symptoms. Gastrointestinal symptoms of the unpleasant variety. After reading some posts on Surfline from women who reported similar symptoms and were diagnosed with nasty diseases, I went to the doctor. Turns out I have a bacterial infection with an unpronounceable name, and she says I got it from the water. It was Malibu or Topanga, either one or both. I showed her a photo of my rash and she said “I’ve never seen anything like that before,” but couldn’t tell me if it was related to the polluted water. Now I have to take antibiotics for a week.

No, I haven’t been surfing. I was able to see my friend with brain cancer, but I can’t write about it here. A week later, he’s gotten too weak to see anyone anymore, ever. Thank God I got to see him one more time.

On dry land in New York City

No surfing for a while. I’ve just been hit with the most devastating news. Someone I love very much has cancer and doesn’t have long to live. I was so happy after this trip, and now I am so sad. For a couple of days I couldn’t do much but cry. I cannot imagine a world without him in it.

I’ll get back to you when I can.

Waveless on the East Coast

I think I’ve gotten over the N. thing, or at least pushed it into a dark corner. Married is the least of it. If even 1% of what they say about him on the Internet is true, I don’t want to be mixed up with him any more than I already am. There’s something about the words “unindicted co-conspirator” that make a woman want to run the other way.
