Here it is, folks. The visual confirmation that I can actually surf. I don't know if these photos are in sequence. Nice or nasty comments on my stance, butt, etc., accepted.
These are from New Year's Day. There weren't waves again until Martin Luther King Day. What a tough wait that was! I was just delighted that I hadn't forgotten how to surf.
And when I see waves again, they won't be in New York, but hopefully there will be a surf trip post soon. Well, if there are any waves worth writing home about.

AWESOME! There was never a doubt in my mind that you were surfing! Nice to see ya out there though. Just wish you weren't freezing! It looks so cold!

hmm. looks ok. when i see a lean like that i know that your feet are too close together. when you pop up with your feet in the "right" spot you are set up to rock n roll. one good way to practice pop ups out of the water is to make a line in your carpet and hit it again and agian with your feet evenly over your line which is like your stringer. wide but not to wide, bent at the knees head pointed in the direction you wanna go, arms out, one behind, one in front ready to balance. lowering your center of gravity via bending your knees makes you much more stable and you give you the ability to increase your speed just by straighting them.
