Grandmas Gone Surfing
Summer in October
Today was at least 85 degrees and sunny, a perfect summer beach day in October! As predicted, the waves were small and good. And though there were more people out it would be laughable to call it a crowd compared to home. I can definitely live with this beach if I ever move here.
I was able to surf two hours in just my Gidget-style bathing suit---heavenly!
Someone asked me if the waves were better than home and I had to say no, not really, but at least as good.
Got worked again, yeah, but got three or four good long rides.

Yes, SSS is wonderful. I found it 6 years ago surfing perfect A frame glassy peaks from Hurricane Alberto and pretty much only surf there now. Good vibe, good people, nature, waves, peaceful. Its my beach home.

Sunday at the end of the day the wind picked up, the rain fell and a full double-ended rainbow flexed its colors from the beach out onto the water. Beautiful and powerful. Nice way to end a good couple of days of surf.
AS far as bottled water showers...I use a solar shower. It holds several gallons of water. Keep it in the sun in an open cooler in your backseat and it gets warm and sometimes hot. Just hook it up to your surf rack or hold it over your head or off a building. You can buy them at any camp store. I think Walmart has them also. Perfect for anytime where no shower is present. Also great in the middle of a cold water season. It has a nosel so you can stick the nosel down your wetsuit and feel the hot water warming you up. Yeah for inventions!
